Pianoconcerto - World creation

Commissioned by Antwerp Symphony, Annelies Van Parys composed a new piano concerto for master pianist and laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition 1991 Jan Michiels. In addition to this unique world creation, Luciano Berio's groundbreaking Sinfonia is on the bill. Together with the vocal ensemble HYOID, the welcome guest conductor Martyn Brabbins performs this amazing musical collage that is bursting with quotes from works by Mahler, Ravel, Debussy and Beethoven, among others.
